Tanzania was not as primitive as we had expected. Chimala was once in darkest Africa. It is only about 50 miles from where the U.S. reporter Henry Stanley found the famed British explorer Dr. David Livingstone. It was in 1871 when those now famous words were uttered: "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
The oldest thing we saw there was this woven bridge which was still crossed by hundreds of feet daily.
