There were no grocery stores. The typical market was located alongside the road. In Mbeya we shopped at a very large open-air market, where haggling over prices was expected.
Most people were suspicious of anyone taking photographs. I found it easiest to take pictures while traveling and not making it apparent when the photo was snapped.
