Blue Vase

There are over 3,000 objects in the glass collection in the National Archeological Museum of Naples. The most valuable piece is this "Blue Vase" from the Villa of the Mosaic Columns in Pompeii. Imitating the shape of an amphora, the glass vase is double-layered with a dark blue background and a cameo-engraved opaque white layer which shows Dionysiac scenes.
