Swahili is a relatively simple language. Dr. Farrar had learned enough in less than a year that he could write his own sermons with the aid of a Swahili Bible. He could then read the sermons and preach without an interpreter. Dan and I could not learn enough Swahili during our brief stay to write sermons, but we did write prayers that we read aloud in Swahili.
