SUNBURN

Are you in severe pain?
Are you having any trouble breathing?

ACTIVITIES:  Apply cold compresses to burned areas or take cool baths a few times daily. Do not "pop" the blisters. Keep the burned area clean to prevent infection. Wear sunscreen to prevent future burns.

MEDICATIONS:  Tylenol, aspirin, or Motrin may be taken for pain from minor sunburns. Take no more than the recommended dosage. You may use over-the-counter medicines that are specific for sunburns. Ask your pharmacist to recommend a brand.

DIET:  Drink plenty of liquids. You may eat anything you desire.

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. The pain becomes unbearable.
2. It starts looking infected.
3. If you have fever, chills, or vomiting.
4. There is no improvement in 3 days.
