On Tuesday, 5 September, we were up early and off to the airport at 5:50 a.m. We departed
shortly after 8 o'clock and arrived around 4 hours later in London, England, at 10 a.m. During our
3 1/2 hour layover at Heathrow Airport, we bought a few things and ended up with a handful of
British coins.
Our next plane was for New York on another British Airways flight. We were served lunch
shortly after take off. About an hour before we landed we were served afternoon tea, which
consisted of a "mature cheddar and red leicester with chutney" sandwich, a "prawn mayonnaise"
sandwich, and a "fruit scone with strawberry preserve and clotted cream." Can we even buy
"clotted cream" in Arkansas?
The transfer from the British Airways terminal to the American Airlines terminal at New York
JFK was extremely challenging due to ground transportation problems. But the remainder of the
trip went fine.
We were happy to be back in our own home around midnight.
